Justice has gone the way of the family of slain Emmanuel Victor (pictured above), a 20 year old young man who was k*lled in front of his mother by a trigger-happy Policeman, Mathew Egheghe, two years ago in Yenogoa, Bayelsa state.

Victor was shot d*ad after he confronted a group of policemen who were trying to extort money from motorists as he was coming back from church.

Angered by his effrontery to question their action, Policeman Egheghe moved close to Victor and shot him at close range.

Narrating what happened, Victor's mother Grace, who witnessed the incident said:

"They shot my son brutally. As he fell while they were shooting him, the tallest of them still continued shooting him on the ground". She said she was harassed and stopped from going close to her dying son even as he lay gasping for life in the pool of his own blood.

Delivering his judgement on the case, Justice Lucky Boufili said that such a cruel act was only punishable by the maximum penalty which is d*ath. He sentenced Mathew Egheghe to d*ath by Hanging. The police has since dismissed Mathew Egheghe and his two accomplices from the force.

SHOCKING : Two Brothers Die Of 'Magun' After Sleeping With Their Uncles’ Wives

Two brothers, Kunmi and Adeniyi Adetokun d*ed within days of each late last year in Ibadan, Oyo state and family members say it was after they slept with their uncles’ wives.

The uncle, (pictured above) is accused of killing the brothers with a deadly anti-adultery charm commonly known as Magun. He was attacked and nearly killed by irate youths following the death of the second brother. He is lying critically ill in a hospital in Ibadan.

2 brothers die of magun after sleeping with uncles’ wives in Ibadan

The incident happened at Jagun community near Iyana Ofa, Lagelu Local Government Area of Oyo State towards the end of 2013 when two blood brothers, Kunmi and Adeniyi Adetokun, died, one after the other, within three days, allegedly of a local charm used to punish adulterous men, commonly referred to as magun in Yoruba.

This literally translates ‘don’t climb’ in English. But the two brothers climbed the metaphorical mountains that were too high for them. And they somersaulted down the hills, breaking their necks in the process.

The occurrence, however, sparked off anger among the youth of the community, resulting in them setting ablaze the residence of the Balogun of the community, Chief Segun Oyetade, the deceased’s uncle, as he was suspected to have been responsible for the duo’s death. They also attacked him with weapons but was only saved when the youth got a hint that policemen were approaching.

The scene opened on Monday, December 2, 2013 when Kunmi reportedly died after having s*x with a woman allegedly laced with magun and who was said to be his aunt-in-law. The woman was said to be his uncle’s wife.

On December 5, three days after Kunmi’s death, his younger brother, Adeniyi, was also reported to have died of unknown ailment which he battled with for a couple of weeks after allegedly sleeping with the wife of Chief Oyetade’s brother, whose name was given simply as Femi.

According to the information gathered by Saturday Tribune, Niyi was the one who fell ill first after he slumped and started vomitting blood. His brother, Kunmi, was reportedly taking care of him at a hospital at Lalupon community.

It was further learnt that Kunmi left Niyi at Lalupon and went to Jagun community where he allegedly had s*x with his uncle’s wife.

His own illness did not take much time before it consumed him and he died three days after it manifested.

Having noticed this, Niyi reportedly opened up that he slept with Femi’s wife, which confirmed the suspicion of the villagers that he must have been hit with the deadly charm.

A member of the community described the type of magun used on Niyi as Olorere which usually takes days or weeks before killing the man who sleeps with the woman laced with such.

WOW!: Man Admits G@y Paedophile Saying He Loves Sleeping With Boys

Nowadays most gays are surfacing, its quite hilarious, dont get it wrong I dont have anything against gay people but I'm not sure this will work in Nigeria because the African culture in generally against it.

Until he was arrested and paraded along with 59 other suspected criminals by the Edo State Police Command, Justice Olise, 33, did not see anything wrong being a paedophile, that is, having sex with male children.
Now, he is full of regrets and says being a gay “is bad in the sight of God and man”, advising would-be gays to get away from the act.
Olise was arrested on January 1st, 2014 by police at his No. 20 Evbodaghe street residence, Eyaen in Benin City. He was alleged to have had sex with five boys whose ages range from 10 to 15 years.
During an interview with Olise however confirmed having sex with five boys and attributed his action to a heartbreak he suffered from his girlfriend.
Below is the encounter with Olise who worked with Coca cola as a forklift operator before his arrest.
What work do you do for a living?
I work with Coca Cola as a forklift operator.
Is it true you sexually assaulted five boys?
I sexually assaulted four boys. Three of them are 10years old while one is 11. They are my neighbours.
Why do you develop interest in males?
It all happened when my girl friend broke my heart sir. I tried to stay away from women and I was just alone for a while.
How do you feel when you assault children like that?
I feel so bad.
How many times did you do it?
Some twice, some once. It’s mostly twice and I think three times, finish.
Were they not crying when you were doing it?
No.
They said you did it for ritual, is it true?
I never did it for ritual, honestly between God and man.
How were you now caught?
It was the children that went to tell their parents.
When were you arrested?
I was arrested on the 1st of January 2014.
Before then, were you aware of the anti-Gay Bill which the president just signed into law?
I heard about it but I never knew this is the kind of thing they are talking about.
How do you feel being here now?
I feel so bad sir.
What would you tell those who would want to do this kind of thing that you have done?
They should get away from it because it’s so bad in the sight of God and man.

Seven men appeared in court in Bauchi on Wednesday, January 22nd, on charges of being involved in same-sex relationships, According to Channels TV.

The case drew thousands of protesters to the court, who threw stones at the men as they were being transported back to prison after the trial, as security forces fired into the air to disperse the angry crowd.

The men were arrested by the Bauchi State Sharia Commission for allegedly engaging in homosexual activities, acts that contravene the Islamic laws which the state had been operating under since 2001.

The men were named as Shehu Adamu, Yusuf Adamu, Aliyu Dalhatu, Abdulmalik Tanko, Usman Sabo and Hazif Sabo Abubakar and Ibrahim Marafa. Continue...

It was the first case since President Goodluck Jonathan signed a bill that criminalises same-sex relationships, defying Western pressure over gay rights and provoking criticism from the United States.

The bill, which contains penalties of up to 14 years in prison and bans gay marriage, same-sex “amorous relationships” and membership of gay rights groups, was passed by the National Assembly last May but Jonathan had delayed signing it into law until early January.

At Thursday’s trial, the prosecuting lawyer said the case was a direct result of the recently-passed law.

“This is further to the law against homosexuals which was signed by the President. It has to be implemented. People caught breaking this law must be prosecuted accordingly,” said Danlami Ayuba.

WICKEDNESS: Parents Lock Daughter Inside Cage For 2 Years

This is quite bizarre, I knew Nigerian's were a bit strange but this is just taking it too far, but one thing everyone is sure is the fact it has something to do with witchcraft, I wonder how this poor girl would have felt being in a cage for more than two years, having no human contact or whatsoever, its very bad.

Tongues have begun to wag in Bayelsa following the discovery of a 16-year-old girl, Blessing Olokumo who had been locked up in a cage for the past 30 months by her parents over an alleged witchcraft induced illness.
Saturday Sun gathered that the cage that has housed the victim for two and half years is just by the Niger Delta University Teaching Hospital in Okolobiri community, Yenagoa Local Government Area of the state.  She was rescued from the cage few days ago by the Mary Slessor Twins Foundation.
The group, led by its acting president, Mr Robert Ebitei Tonye, disclosed that preliminary investigations revealed that Blessing was diagnosed with an illness nine years ago which triggered convulsion.
Findings by Saturday Sun revealed that when Blessing was taken to the hospital for medical attention nine years ago, the parents were asked to pay N15, 000 for her treatment. It was further learnt that the father, who said he could not afford such medical bill, requested her to be discharged and signed a form that he was taking her from the hospital against medical advice.
He was said to have later taken her to different traditional homes for her illness to be cured and when no solution was forthcoming, especially when she defecates and vomits in the house, he decided to construct a cage where she was kept.
Concerned neighbours, who have watched in horror the maltreatment Blessing was subjected to, alerted the group known for its campaign against maltreatment of twins in the state.
The first day the group went to the house to rescue her, Tonye said some strange occurrences and the blunt refusal of the father to hand her over, prevented the group from rescuing her. But on its second mission, they succeeded and immediately took her to the Okolobiri hospital.
While lamenting the condition of the teenager, Tonye said:  “She was kept like a rabbit. She was given food when it was available and was allowed to sleep in her vomit, feces and urine. She lost weight and could have died”.
At the Okolobiri hospital where she is kept, many who visited her described her parents’ action as wicked and callous.
Speaking further on the incident, Tonye said: “The father told us that the girl has been sick for 13 years and since she refused to die, she was locked up. We rescued her and took her to the hospital. Our pre-occupation is to stabilize her condition before we ensure we press charges against the parents”
Scared that he could be arrested, Saturday Sun gathered that Olokumo has already  gone underground. The mother, Mrs Olokumo, who now stays with her at the hospital, lamented that they have spent all their money to get solution to her problem.
According to her, since they could not get money to get her proper medical attention, they decided to give up and she allowed the father to handle it.
Dr Oyedeji Adeyemi of the NDUTH, who is attending to her, explained that her case is that of seizure disorder which was not properly treated.
“The case is principally a case of a child having a seizure disorder in what some people would call epilepsy which in technical terms is seizure disorder which was not treated appropriately. Rather than give her medical attention, she was kept out of the house, sort of restricted environment and barely fed which had over time led to malnutrition”, Adeyemi stated.
Some civil society groups have already concluded plans to give all the necessary support to the Mary Slessor Twins Foundation to see that Blessing’s parents do not go free for the act of inhumanity to their own child.

Nigerian Lady Disowns Her Cat For Being Gay

What a very hilarious news, its funny and at the same time hard to understand, it just shows how much Nigerians are against same sex marriages of any kind, yesterday in Lafia, Nasarawa State, publicly disowned her cat whom she had kept as a pet for seven years for what she termed “an unnatural sexual behavior” which she finds disturbing and “a contradiction of the laws of nature.”

By this, the cat has made a record as the first cat to be so publicly declared gay and disowned by its owner.
The cat, named Bull, was alleged to be in the habit of making sexual advances only to other male cats in the house even though there are several other female cats.
Neighbours attested that none of the other cats born while the cat was in the house has it’s due colour, lending credence to the fact that it has not been able to mate with other female cats in its home or anywhere in the environ.
The cat owner who expressed a strong belief in the divine purpose of creating male and female of every creature to fulfil an ordained purpose of procreation said, “anybody interested in this gay cat can have it because I have no further use of it.”
The cat’s renunciation which attracted members of the public was however dramatic as no one wanted to take ownership of such a cat.
After its rejection, many residents of the area have been theonging the house located on Gboko Street, Tudun Gwandara area of Lafia, the state capital to see things for themselves

EFCC Given 14 Days Ultimatum To Arrest Stella Oduah

An anti-corruption group, ''Say No Campaign'', has given the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) a 14-day ultimatum to investigate the Minister of Aviation, Stella Oduah, based on the House of the Representatives report on the ministry’s purchase of two armored BMW cars for N255 million.

“The recent corruption allegation against the Minister of Aviation for the illegal purchase of 2 armored BMW cars at the outrageous price of N255 million generated citizens’ uproar and received popular condemnation from different stakeholders in the polity,” the group said in a letter to the anti-graft agency.

Last October, the House of Representative ordered its committee on aviation to probe the purchase of the armored vehicles.

The committee submitted its report a week later dismissing every claim made by the minister in relation to the purchase. The report revealed that there was no appropriation for the purchase.

It also revealed that due process was not followed in the procurement. Quoting section 7 (I) of the EFCC Act, Say No Campaign noted that the anti-graft commission is empowered to investigate all economic and financial crimes.

It therefore asked that the EFCC commences investigation into the purchase of the armored cars; arrest the minister and prosecute her in a court of competent jurisdiction.

Say No Campaign said it would institute legal action against the commission if it failed to commence investigation into the matter. Mrs. Oduah was indicted for approving the purchase of the cars, which were unbudgeted for, at an inflated price.

A presidential committee set up by President Goodluck Jonathan is believed to have come to similar conclusion; with many Nigerians calling for the minister’s sack.

Apart from the financial scandal, Mrs. Oduah is also involved in an academic qualification scandal where she lied about her educational qualification to Nigeria lawmakers.

Mrs. Oduah, a major campaigner for Mr. Jonathan in the 2011 presidential elections, is however yet to be rebuked or removed by the president.

Nasir El-Rufai On The Run, As SSS Secures His Arrest Warrant

The State Security Service, SSS, has secured a warrant of arrest for the Deputy National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Nasir El-Rufai, and has now launched a manhunt for him, the spokesperson for the agency has said.

This is even as armed operatives of the Service again stormed a second house in Abuja believed to belong to the former minister in their desperate bid to arrest him.

They had earlier in the afternoon invaded his first house in the Maitama District of the nation’s capital, but could not find him as he had reportedly gone to pick his children from school. They were said to have tried to force their way in to arrest the former minister.

In the latest siege on another property, also in the Maitama District, the operatives were said to have beaten up some private guards for refusing them entry.

The spokesperson of the SSS, Marylyn Ogar, confirmed that the operatives visited Mr. El-Rufai’s second house to arrest him, but denied that anyone was beaten.

“I hate cheap blackmail,” Ms. Ogar told Premium Times on telephone. “We went to the first place, nobody was beaten up. How will we go to the second place and beat people up?”

She explained that the SSS got an arrest warrant demanded by Mr. El-Rufai, but could not find him to personally serve him the document.

“We extended a friendly invitation to him,” the SSS spokesperson said. “He was invited honourably to come and make some explanations about the comments attributed to him.
“He said he wanted an arrest warrant. We have now obtained that from a competent court and we are wondering why he is running.

“We want to serve it on him. Or is there any Nigerian that is above the law?
“The president has said his ambition is not worth any Nigerian’s blood. So why will anyone else be making provocative statements?”

The manhunt for the former minister followed his refusal to honour an invitation from the SSS on Thursday.

He cited his pending suit against the Service over his detention in a hotel in Awka during the Anambra State Governorship last November 16 as the reason for refusing to honour the invitation.
Mr. El-Rufai also insisted on seeing a warrant of arrest before he could go to the SSS office.
The invitation of the APC chief was in connection with his remarks at a conference in Abuja on Wednesday that there might be violence if the 2015 general elections were not credible.

Meanwhile, Mr. El-Rufai, in statement by his media advisor, Muyiwa Adekeye, on Friday, confirmed that armed SSS officials stormed his home in Abuja following his rejection of the attempt by the organization to compel him to report at their office without a valid warrant.

The statement said the former minister had on Thursday firmly told the Director General of SSS that he would be exercising his right not to go to the SSS offices except a warrant mandates him and offered to meet the SSS officials in his home or office.

“The armed invasion of his house is a clear indication that the SSS imagines itself as an agency immune from respecting fundamental rights, behaviour akin to a gathering of toughs before whom every citizen must quake,” the statement said.

“The SSS agents did not produce any warrant to back their invasion of his premises.
“The assault on El-Rufai’s house continues a sorry tradition of serial violation of his rights by the SSS which has arrested him at airports and hotels.

“The most recent was the action of the SSS in violating his right to freedom of movement in Awka during the Anambra elections. Without any just cause or formal charge, the Directorate of State Security Services (SSS) had unlawfully detained El Rufai, the Deputy National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the premises of Finotel Hotel, Akwa, Anambra State, from the 15th day of November, 2013 to the 16th day of November, 2013.”

The statement said during the period, Mr. El-Rufai was not only restricted to the hotel, he was denied access to his congregational prayer as a devout Muslim, and kept incommunicado without access to anyone and or the press.

It stated that in order to remedy the flagrant violation of his fundamental rights as enshrined in sections 35, 39, 40 and 41 of the Constitution, the former minister sued the SSS, seeking eight reliefs, including an injunction to restrain the SSS from further infringing on his fundamental rights.

Deliverance Or What? : Pastor Caught M*lesting Teenage Girl During Spiritual Deliverance(See Photo)

Pastor and General Overseer of Zion International Christian Church, Idah, Kogi State, Pastor Kingsley may have landed in trouble due to his alleged s*xual antics.

The pastor was alleged to have slept with one Mary, daughter of his Sunday school teacher on the pretext that the lady was possessed with demons which could only be exorcised through s*x.

The clerk was said to have had carnal knowledge of the 18-year old girl

According to the state Commissioner of Police, Seidu Madawaki who paraded the suspect before newsmen, the bubble burst for Pastor Kingsley when his attempt to abort the pregnancy was refused by the victim.

“ After impregnating the girl, he attempted to abort the pregnancy by giving her some liquid substances mixed with olive oil which she refused to drink”, he said.

Speaking with Crime Watch, the victim said she came to join her parent from the village around November last year when the pastor spotted her in the church on the pretext that she had ‘a wild demonic spirit’ in her and then ordered her to see him after the church service for deliverance.

Frightened, she said she went to meet the pastor immediately after the service. “He told me that my waist and private parts have been ravaged by demons and until deliverance was carried out, I may not be able to have any child in life.

“ The Man of God’ frightened me and said he would only cast out the demons from me through s*xual intercourse but he warned me not to tell anybody on the mode of deliverance.

“After praying into an olive oil, he asked me to undress while he  rubsed my waist and private parts with the anointing oil mixed with some substances, he then undressed himself and used the same oil  on his private part before he descended on me and started to do the thing.”

“But I discovered that I was pregnant last week when my mother noticed my conduct and I had to reveal everything to her even though he warned me not to tell anybody,” She revealed.

However, the 37-year old pastor denied the allegation saying, that all he did was to cast out the demons in her, using the anointing oil.

He said that some church members who were envious of his spiritual rise were the one who ganged up against him because his ministry was experiencing ‘exponential growth’

The CP warned parents to put more attention on their female children even in religious centres,  saying there are many fake pastors outside there.

US Threatens To Sanction Nigeria Over Anti-gay Law

The United State Of America has threatened to sanction Nigeria following President Jonathan’s signing of the Same-Sex Prohibition Act 2014.

They are threatening to scale down its support for HIV/AIDS and anti-malaria programmes in Nigeria.

This was made known yesterday Jan. 20th by James Entwistle, the US Ambassador to Nigeria.

Mr Entwistle said he was worried about "the implications of the anti-same sex marriage law which seems to restrict the fundamental rights of a section of the Nigerian population.”

"The issue of same-sex marriage was very controversial all over the world, including within  the United States where 17 states out of 50 had endorsed it, but others still reject its legality. The issue that we see and I am speaking as a friend of Nigeria is that as I read the bill, it looks to me that it puts significant restrictions on the freedoms of assembly and expression; in my opinion which applies especially in advanced democracies, once government begins to say something in these areas, freedom no longer applies. It seems to me that this is a very worrisome precedent.”

''Many Nigerians Living In Dubai Are HIV Positive'' -- Nigerian Resident

A UAE-based Nigerian, Prince Eze Kingston Uzosike has raised the alarm over the high number of Nigerians testing positive to HIV in the country.

According to him, many people will die like ants in the next 10, 20 years if nothing is done.

The Nigerian immigrant while speaking to a Leadership correspondent who visited Dubai recently also dropped a bombshell:

Many of these Nigerians being deported from abroad are HIV positive. Do you know how many people these people who are HIV positive may have infected since they got back home?

Uzosike who has spent about four years in Diaspora said last December that about 187 blacks who had no immigration papers were caught and tested for HIV and about 93 tested positive.
Out of this number, 80 were Nigerians who were later deported home.

I know within my guts that these people some of whom are married will not tell their wives or even their girlfriends back home, their status. And you know how our girls run after guys who travel out of the country. So you can imagine. My view is that the disease will continue to spread.”

Uzosike who got his papers last year, also narrated a story of a Nigerian who was deported home four months ago.

Nicknamed Chiefo, he was the first guy who started using the internet here and he recently got married in Nigeria leaving his wife behind. But in Dubai here, he has been philandering with so many girls here that when we heard he tested positive to HIV shortly before his deportation, many of us were not surprised. I am sorely afraid if he would tell his wife back home. Many Nigerian men in UAE just sleep with girls anyhow”

According to him, a lot of Nigerian men in UAE are frustrated as they don’t have anything doing so sex is something they use to take their mind off things.

Come here and see our girls hustling for men most especially married women. Come here and see how they mess up. When you talk to them, they say it’s the condition of the country. When you hear some stories happening here, you will weep. Many of our girls who come to shop here engage in sharp practices first before leaving.

I have clients who travel to Indonesia, Turkey, China , India and Bangladesh. They give me stories when they come back. They tell tales of how our girls throw themselves at them because of papers (laughs). Imagine Chinco (a word used for Chinese). Every blessed day, millions of Naija girls are just trooping out.”

Apart from indulging in sex business, Uzosike also disclosed that many Nigerians are engaged in sleaze over there.
He said over 700 Nigerians were recently duped over residence permit by a construction company who promised to give them employment and resident permit.

Meanwhile, it’s the same Nigerians who connived with the Indians to dupe their fellow brothers.”

Another UAE- based Nigerian, Alloysius  Anosike said that  many Nigerians living in Dubai are illegal immigrants. He said:

About 70 or 80 of every 100 Nigerians living here are illegal. These our fellow brothers use  about $800 to procure two months visa  for some Nigerian girls  who are relatively young to come and ‘work’ for them. At the end of the day, you see these girls working $20,000 for these men. You’ll see them going from one club house to the other ‘working’.

In fact, says, Uzosika:

am convinced that about 20 million Nigerians are HIV positive. You hardly see a Nigerian man here not living with a South African lady and you know that South Africa has the highest HIV prevalence rate in the world. But I know that when our guys here know that HIV test is being enforced at home, they will sit up here. The way things are going, our younger generation has no future. Everyone believes that the future is in abroad where HIV is being marketed”

CBN Governor, Sanusi Lamido Accuses Pastor Enoch Adeboye Of Abetting Fraud

According Sahara Reporters, the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, and the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, are currently in a fraud battle, with the CBN top shot accusing the revered man of God of aiding and abetting corruption by shielding the former CEO of Intercontinental Bank PLC, Erasmus Akingbola, a member of Adeboye’s church, who has been indicted for various financial fraud while he held sway at the bank before it was liquidated.

Sanusi said that Adeboye has been the one making the prosecution of Akingbola, who allegedly stole over N200 billion from the commercial bank by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, impossible.

The CBN front man claimed that Pastor Adeboye’s involvement in the deal and his intervention in getting the judge who was handling the case, Justice Habeeb Abiru, promoted to the Court of Appeals has truncated the case as that enabled Akingbola escape to the UK as soon as the EFCC indicated their desire to try him.

He was later forced to return to Nigeria, but his prosecution soon fizzled out, due to Adeboye’s interference, according to Sanusi.

Married Woman Sets Her Husband Ablaze Because of Her Lover

Tragedy struck at the Umuodo community of Itu in Ezinihitte LGA of Imo State last weekend when a man and his wife were burnt to death under very controversial circumstances.

Mr Ngozi Chilekezi and his wife Patience alias Oil, had lived together as husband and wife for about 12 years before the tragedy.

“On entering the room, his wife poured fuel on him, lit a match and held him tightly to ensure that he did no escape from the evil plot,” a villager recounted.

While some claimed that cans of fuel stored in the house suddenly went up in flames, others said the woman in an attempt kill her husband and escape with her boyfriend, poured fuel all around the house before inviting her husband home for a chat and lit a match that engulfed the building.

The later story gained currency when it was confirmed that the husband, who was badly burnt at the time he was rushed to a nearby hospital, was able to narrate what happened to his relations.

Although none of the villagers, who spoke to reporters at the scene of the incident wanted their names in print, they were, however, in agreement that it was a well executed murder by the wife.

The villagers quoted Chilekezi, who later died at the hospital, as revealing that he was invited last Saturday into their living room by his wife at about 1.30pm for a chat.

The villager equally told Vanguard that Chilekezi, a relatively comfortable automobile technician, managed to extricate himself from his wife’s grip and ran out of the burning house and was taken to a nearby hospital for medical attention.

The dying man also told his relations that his wife was equally trapped in the burning house but before people could get back to the house, the woman was burnt beyond recognition.

Unconfirmed report had it that the late wife allegedly planned to elope with another man but the plot leaked to her husband, who confronted the strange man said to be a native of Umuezeala, Itu, a neighbouring village.

It was gathered that because of the development, her husband started making plans to take another wife.

The charred remains of Mrs. Chilekezi was still in the burnt house, while the husband’s body was deposited in an undisclosed morgue.

Confirming the incident, Police PRO, Mrs. Joy Elemoko, a Deputy Superintendent of Police, said a crack team of detectives from the state police headquarters had commenced investigation.

US Condemns Nigeria's Same-sex Marriage Prohibition Law

The United States, yesterday, on Monday 13th January, criticized Nigeria for approving a law that punishes same-sex marriage with prison sentences, saying the move would curtail basic human rights.

Secretary of State John Kerry said the United States was “deeply concerned” by Nigeria’s new law which “dangerously restricts freedom of assembly, association and expression for all Nigerians.”

Kerry said the act “is inconsistent with Nigeria’s international legal obligations and undermines the democratic reforms and human rights protections enshrined in its 1999 constitution.”

“People everywhere deserve to live in freedom and equality. No one should face violence or discrimination for who they are or who they love,” Kerry said in a statement.

Under the new law, anyone in a same-sex marriage or union would face up to 14 years in prison, with such partnerships reached overseas considered void in Nigeria.

President Goodluck Jonathan signed the law because he considered it consistent with most Nigerians’ views toward homosexuality, his spokesman, Reuben Abati, told AFP.

The United States has generally warm relations with Nigeria but President Barack Obama’s administration has increasingly put a priority on fighting for gay rights overseas.

In Uganda, President Yoweri Museveni has said that he will not rush into signing a law under which gays would be jailed after criticism from Obama, Nobel laureate Desmond Tutu and other global figures.

I Should Have Ran Away From The Country After Stealing N45m - Graduate

Its amazing how a graduate will result to stealing in order to survive in this country, it just shows how great our problems are and how little the government is doing about it, but regardless of how hard situations are you should never go into illegal business....that's just being lazy.

The Lagos State Special Anti-Robbery Squad Command has arrested a 30-year-old man believed to have been the mastermind of two great robberies at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja in 2012 and 2013.

The suspect, Samuel Mayegun, aka Asiwaju, who claims to be a graduate of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta, Ogun State, was arrested in the Ikorodu area of Lagos last Thursday.

It  had been in the news in April 2013 that about eight suspects stole over N400m from bureau de change operators at the airport in 2012 and went for another robbery the following year and carted away N9m.

The police were able to arrest most of the suspects after the second robbery but it was learnt that Mayegun continued to evade arrest from policemen until he was arrested by policemen while attempting to stage another robbery.

The suspect, who claimed to have made N45m from the robberies, said he continued to rob because all his investments had failed.

He said his only regret was that he did not flee the country when he had the chance to.

He said, “My regret is that I did not heed the advice of my friends who told me to run away from the country because N45m was enough to do good business abroad.

“I also feel sad that God saved me and gave me the opportunity to escape, but I messed it up. God really loved me because all our members were rounded up and I was the only one left, yet I did not use the opportunity to escape.”

A 21-year-old man, Mansur Tanko, on Friday, 10th Jenuary, burnt himself to death in Jalingo, after a disagreement with his father, Tanko Mijinyawa, over his marriage plans.

The Taraba Police Public Relations Officer, Joseph Kwaji, confirmed the incident and said the Jalingo Division of the police had commenced investigation into the matter.

Tanko, according to a witness, Jibrin Bala, set himself ablaze because his family refused to approve his wedding with a girl, Blessing.

The witness told sympathisers that Tanko introduced Blessing to his father as his proposed wife, but the father kicked against the union, describing it as a bad choice.

Bala said efforts by the father to convince his son to look for another girl failed, as he insisted that he could not survive without Blessing.

The witness added that Tanko suddenly left his father and went to a corner in the compound, where he poured petrol on his body and set himself ablaze.

“When we suddenly saw fire, everybody ran toward the corner of the compound, only to see Tanko burning.

“The father and other people in the compound tried to rescue Tanko from the fire, but failed as the flame was much and we could not move near,” he
said.

Meanwhile, he said, Tanko’s father is currently receiving treatment at the Federal Medical Centre, Jalingo, for injuries sustained while trying to rescue the son from the fire.
