Tragedy struck in a Warri community in Delta State as the mother of five school children who were allegedly sold to a suspected ritualist, slumped and died.

It was gathered that the pupils whose ages range between two and eight were sold for N5 million by a tricycle operator, who conveyed them to school.

Investigation revealed that the tricyclist allegedly sold the children for N1million each to a ritualist.

The inhabitants of the sleepy town of Otokutu, where the incident occurred were said to have been shocked when the sad news spread across the community.

Sources told Daily Sun that the deal was blown open when a female friend to the mother of the children called to tell her that her children were not in school.

Shocked by the news, the woman ran to the school but did not see her children. She immediately rushed to the residence of the tricycle operator, who the family had trusted so much and met the man moving his belongings apparently in a bid to escape.

The man was immediately arrested by youths of the town, who subsequently handed him over to the police.

At the police station, the suspect allegedly admitted abducting the five children and selling them to a suspected ritualist from the northern part of the country. Unfortunately, efforts to track down the buyer failed as he was said to have escaped with the children.

Overwhelmed by the pain of losing her children, the woman was said to have slumped and died instantly. Her husband was also said to have collapsed and has been receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital.

Nigeria Police To Stop Salaries Of 30 Missing Policemen - Report

     Police Chief  Suleiman Abba

According to reports, the salaries of some missing 30 mobile policemen in Borno State would be stopped by April 2015, if the men failed to show up at their squadron units, sources have revealed to PUNCH.

The policemen were declared missing back in August after an attack on the Police Training School, Gwoza, Borno State, by Boko Haram insurgents. And might be given up for dead if they did not report to their commanding officers by the end of the first quarter of the New Year.

It was however learnt that the missing police personnel would be declared dead formally after seven years.

About 159 personnel drawn from Mopol 50, Abuja; Mopol 38, Akwanga and Mopol 58, Lafia, Nasarawa State, were undergoing training at the school when Boko Haram gunmen attacked them on August 20,2014, killing some and seizing their arms and ammunition.

A number of the policemen escaped but 30 of them are yet to be accounted for, three months after the incident.

Though the Inspector-General of Police, Suleiman Abba, had expressed hope that the men might be alive but he was silent on the efforts being made to search for them.

PUNCH reports they learnt that the salaries of the affected personnel might be suspended if their emolument forms were not submitted to the officers-in-charge of the Mechanised Salary Sections, who process police salaries.

It was learnt that the emolument forms had been given to the rank and file to be filled and submitted before the end of the year.

Findings indicated that any backlog salaries of the missing officers would be paid the moment they show up to fill the emolument form. A police source told them:
“The salaries of the missing officers are still being paid for now, but by April next year, it would be stopped because they did not fill the emolument forms that would ensure the continuous payment of their salaries.”

One of the MOPOL commandants in Abuja was said to have given money to family members of some of the missing policemen recently when they complained of hardships they encountered in accessing the bank accounts of their missing breadwinners.

“I was there when the commander gave out N50,000 to each of the women to assist them because of the hardship they are facing since their husband went missing at Gwoza; you know that some men don’t open up to their wives about their finances, so you can understand what the women are going through,” the source stated.

But the Force Public Relations Officer, Emmanuel Ojukwu, in a text message, said it was not true that the salaries of the personnel would be stopped, noting that “they are only presumed dead after seven years.

BEWARE! : How Female Home Tutor Kidnapped Four Children Under Her Care

A woman simply identified as eleha (woman in purdah) last Tuesday November 18, 2014 disappeared with 4 kids at a neighbourhood home lesson in Idi-Omo area of Ibadan, Oyo State. And according to reports, the children are yet to be found till the writing of this report today.

The four missing children, whose names were given as Abdulsalam Aderibigbe, Abigail Adegunju, Chidiebere and Onyiyechukwu were reportedly taken away by the eleha who disguised as someone in need of an employment. She struck within 30 minutes of starting her job as a lesson assistant.

The 33-year-old proprietress of  Mrs Kafayat Olatubosun, has described the incident which led to the disappearance of the four pupils in her care as one that is like a devil stalking her, after which he crept in and struck.

According to Mrs Olatunbosun who is nursing a 14-month-old baby and is currently kept in protective custody at State Criminal Investigation, Iyaganku, Ibadan:
“I started operating a neighbourhood lesson for children at Sagbolada Compound, Idi Omo, Ibadan in 2009. I rented a space in the compound and I pay N500 monthly for it. I have about 35 pupils between the ages of one-and-half and three. Sometimes, primary school pupils sent home from their schools because of non-payment of fees are brought by their parents so that there would be no vacuum in their academic lives. I collect N20 daily for each child and the lesson hours are between 8a.m. and 1p.m.”
The National Teachers Institution (NTI) certificate holder and mother of three spoke further:
“I had been working alone all the years, with regular assistance from my husband and a few elderly women staying within and around the lesson. Whenever I wanted to move round to pick children from their homes, my husband would stay with the ones already in class. Same would happen in the afternoon until the last child had been taken home. Whenever he was busy in the shop where he works as a lotto agent, the women who were like my in-laws would assist me.

The woman who did this evil work (kidnapping) had been coming when I was still pregnant with the 14-month-old baby I am nursing. She kept pestering me that she wanted to work with me but I told her that I did not need assistance.

About a month after I resumed work, having spent 41 days at home after delivery, she came again and I still insisted that I did not need an assistant. She told me that she wanted to leave where she was working because she was being owed salary. I replied that I would not a similar situation to occur in our relationship because the children were enough to take care of my own needs.

I told her that I would like to inform my husband which I did by calling him. But he could not come because he was busy in his office. The woman told me she would come back the following day. The following morning, when I got to the lesson, at a little after 8a.m., I met the woman waiting for me.

Shortly after, my husband came and saw her too. I said I would be paying her N3,000 monthly and she agreed. My husband left for his office and I decided to make the rounds to pick my pupils.

I went the first round to pick the children and I met the lady on my return. I went the second round and still met her. Even some parents who brought their children themselves saw her.

It was on my return after the third round that she was no longer around. I also noticed that one of the children, Abdusalam, was missing. I shouted and the elderly women around came. I quickly called my husband on the phone and he came. I met one of the parents who just brought her child in and she said she did not meet anyone.

That was how we noticed that Abigail, Samson, Chidiebere and Onyiyechukwu were also missing. The last two children are siblings Samson, who is three years old later walked back to us.”

When asked if she could identify the woman, Mrs Olatunbosun replied that she could.

Crime Reports learnt that the Idi Omo neighbourhood was immediately thrown into confusion as residents, especially the youths and parents of the missing pupils, started searching for the woman and the children. The mother of two of the missing children who are sisters was reported to have collapsed immediately and had since been on admission. The older of her two kids is three.

But the police image maker in Oyo State, Olabisi Okuwobi-Ilobanafor said that Commissioner of Police, Kola Shodipo has put his men on their toes to unravel the identity of the woman, with a view to arresting her. Source

Relatives Find Decomposing Body Of Former LASG Director

              Jaiyesinmi’s apartment

The Lagos state police command are trying to unravel the killers of a former director of the Lagos State Government, Mrs. Oluremi Jaiyesimi. The 63-year-old was found dead in her house in the Abraham Adesanya Estate, Ajah area of the state.

PUNCH Metro exclusively gathered from sources that the corpse of the former Director of Social Welfare in the Ministry of Youths and Social Development was not discovered until a week after she died. By then, her body was said to have been decomposing with maggots emanating from the corpse.

A neighbour, who was suspicious that something was amiss after the former director was not seen for days, alerted a relation in the Surulere area of the state. The relation reportedly called a friend of the deceased living nearby, who visited the house.

A police source said:
“The friend accessed the house with his personal key and when he entered the compound, he perceived a foul smell. He also saw trays of onions and melon spread out to dry in the sun. They were already germinating, meaning they had been abandoned for a long time. The man decided to report back to the relative that he would not enter the flat because he could sense something was wrong.”

It was learnt that the friend, identified simply as doctor, reported the matter at the Ogombo Police Station. The relation and some other anxious family members in company with police officers, were said to have forced the door of the house open, only to see the corpse on the floor.

When PUNCH visited the estate on Tuesday, he spoke with residents who said Jaiyesimi might have been murdered.

A resident, Kikelomo Banjoko, said:
“A week to the incident, she came to buy sachet water from me and even spent more than one hour with me. She watched as I made pap and commended me for my hard work. The next day, which was a Wednesday, she introduced me to another woman in the neighbourhood, telling her that I was a hardworking woman.
It was the Monday of the following week that I saw some people fumigating her house. Later, somebody told me she was dead. I was shocked.”

Another resident, who pleaded anonymity, said the former director was killed by somebody close to her. He added that the 63-year-old was “always security conscious”.

He said:
“Once it’s late, no matter who you are, she will never open her door to you. She was very suspicious of people. She never had many friends. I am sure she couldn’t have slumped and died because she was very agile and healthy. The person who killed her must be a close friend or relative. To remove all traces, they took her phones, her generator and even her jeep was driven away.”

PUNCH Metro learnt the killers also tampered with the Closed Circuit Television camera in the house, although they left her jewellery tucked under her pillow. Findings also showed that Jaiyesimi had travelled to the United States, where she was living with her children after she retired from the Lagos State Civil Service four years ago. She came back to Nigeria with her kids after her husband, with whom she had separated, died.

While the children travelled back after the burial, she decided to stay in her residence. She lived alone in the house, but usually called for the service of house helps and artisans on the telephone whenever she needed them.

She was said to have been killed between October 21, the last time she spoke with her children, and October 29, the day her corpse was found.

The Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Youth and Social Development, Dr. Dolapo Badru, condemned the murder of Jaiyesimi, who he described as a passionate woman who cared for children.

In a telephone interview with PUNCH, he said:
“When I heard about the incident, I was shocked. This was a woman who used all her life to serve humanity. She was especially passionate about vulnerable children. Such people shouldn’t die like that. Those who perpetrated this heinous crime must be caught and made to face the music.”
A police source confided that the cause of death of the woman had yet to be established.
“Even the autopsy did not reveal anything,” he added.

The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Kenneth Nwosu, confirmed the incident. Adding that the police had begun investigations. The police spokesperson said the matter had been transferred to the State Criminal Investigations Department, Yaba.

Two Teenage Girls Dressed In Full Hijab Reportedly Blew Themselves Up In Maiduguri

Two female suicide bombers today blew themselves up in a crowded market in Maiduguri state, killing at least 30 people.

And according to Abba Aji Kalli, the Borno state coordinator of the Civilian Joint Task Force,  the two teenage girls dressed in full hijab entered the busy market and detonated their explosives.

The first set off her explosives and killed about three women, said Kalli.

When others gathered around the scene, the second bomber screamed and blew herself up, killing about 30, he said.

"I am right here at the scene and I have before me 11 corpses ... many have been taken away by relatives, while others are taken to the state specialists' hospital," said Kalli.

Soldiers and police officers cordoned off the area while rescue workers helped survivors to the hospital.

Nigeria's Islamic extremist rebel group, Boko Haram, are suspected of the suicide blasts, as they have carried out many similar violent acts in northeastern Nigeria.

Today's blast is the first in Maiduguri since July 2 when 56 people were killed in the same market area when a car bomb hit a group of traders and shoppers.

The Nigeria police are still to issue a statement on today's blasts.

Good God : Woman Delivers Quadruplets After 18 Years Of Childlessness

The babies being attended to by a nurse on Monday.

This is to say, miracles well and truely do happen. A 44-year- old woman, Clara Dominique, who had been childless for 18 years, was last Saturday delivered of quadruplets. The quadruplets are three girls and a male. They were delivered at the Graceland Medical Centre in Benin City, Edo State.

According to TheNation, Mrs. Clara, who got married in 1996, said it was God’s grace that kept her and her husband through the trials of childlessness. She said they refused to keep friends because of the problem.

“I am happy that my husband and I were able to stay together to this day to witness the blessings of the Lord. My husband has been encouraging me that God will do it for us. My husband never contemplated driving me away.

I was happy when the scan showed it was four. Sometimes I think of how I will carry the four of them. I have not seen somebody delivered four babies. It was not easy for me to carry the pregnancy. At a time the weight of the pregnancy was too much for me.

I was the one dedicating children at our church every last Sunday of the month. I was the first to visit anybody that I knew that gave birth so that I can give them what I have. I am not the jealous type.

It was my husband’s cousins that tried to take the matter up but my husband stopped them. My parents were also there to encourage us. That was what kept us together because the family pressure was not there. They knew we were Christians and nobody could penetrate my husband and I.”

One of the doctors at the hospital, Dr. Oni Samson, said the babies were delivered through cesarean section. She said:
“You don’t expect a woman that is having multiple births to do that through the vaginal. This is the first time we had quadruplets in this hospital. The children are okay. The ante-natal was uneventful. They are still under care for them to be stabilized.”

Write Boko Haram To Stop Attacks - CAN President To Sultan Of Sokoto

Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor, President of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), has called on the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar, to write a letter to members of Boko Haram to stop their attacks just as he did to the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS).

Pastor Oritsejafor made the call today at a 2-day meeting in Abuja with Senior Special Assistants on Religious Affairs to all state governors.

“His Eminence said he wrote a letter to ISIS, I have to truly congratulate you for that because that was a very good move. I didn’t know about it until today and I am so glad it happened. But I want to appeal that you also write to Boko Haram because Boko Haram is worst than ISIS.

They have killed more people than ISIS, they have caused more atrocities than ISIS; they need to be written to as well, it is very important it will help. I have made an appeal several times that there are some of our leaders who must come together, religious, political and traditional. They must come and discuss.’’ he said

Muslim Body Questions Jewish Symbol On New N100 Note - Report

A Muslim body, the Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC), has released a statement expressing concern over what it termed a Jewish symbol on Nigeria’s new N100 note which was unveiled recently by President Jonathan.

The Director of MURIC, Professor Ishaq Akintola, in the statement issued yesterday November 23rd, alleged the insertion of a Jewish symbol into the new currency, demanding explanation from the Federal Government. See the statement below...

“The Federal Government, on November 12, 2014 unveiled the new design for the N100 commemorative centenary banknote which will be officially issued on December 19.

However, the office of the Muslim Rights Concern has been inundated with calls for action on the Jewish symbol on the new note. Nigerian Muslims are complaining that the Arabic writing in Hausa language (the Ajami script) that read ‘Naira Dari’ (i.e. one hundred naira) on the N100 note has been removed and replaced with the Jewish symbol, the Star of David.

As a faith-based human rights organisation which believes in the dialogue option, MURIC is duty bound to articulate the demands of Nigerian Muslims, particularly on matters which have to do with imbalance in treatment of the adherents of the different religions governments (federal or state).
MURIC recalls that Arabic inscriptions which have always been on Nigerian currency since independence were unceremoniously removed in 2005 from N5, N10, N20 and N50 denominations. They remained on N100, N200, N500 and N1,000 denominations.

Nigerian Muslims regard the latest action, namely, the supplanting of Arabic with Jewish symbol from the new N100 as a continuation of the campaign of elimination by substitution against Arabic language and, by implication, against Nigerian Muslims.
It is well known that a large section of the Nigerian population use the Arabic Ajami and removing it from the new note will deprive millions of users of the Arabic Ajami of the ability to recognise, identify and use the new currency.

Furthermore, putting the Jewish symbol on the new N100 falls short of international standard, as currencies worldwide are designed to suit each nation’s culture and history.
Where does the Jewish symbol fit in? Which Nigerian community speaks the Jewish language? The insertion of the Jewish symbol is, therefore, clannish and parochial. It is tainted with undisguised religious fanaticism.

There is nothing wrong for our president to like Israel as a nation, but it is another thing entirely to openly and brazenly promote Zionism at the highest office in this country when we are still struggling with the last vestiges of colonialism. Nigerian Muslims are becoming increasingly suspicious and very uncomfortable with the actions and inactions of President Jonathan.

Firstly, in spite of the preponderance of Muslims in the South West, he appointed no single Muslim as minister in the whole region for almost four years. Secondly, he marginalised Muslims in the deliberations which took place in the national conference by appointing a meagre 189 Muslims as against 303 Christians.
Thirdly, Mr President saturated the security system in Aso Rock with Israeli security operatives, a nation well known for its animosity towards Muslims. The supplanting of Arabic language with Jewish symbol is the fourth among Jonathan’s anti-Muslim policies.
If once is happenstance, if twice is a coincidence and if the third time is enemy action, what do we call the fourth time? We are sick and tired of our president’s hatred for us. He openly confronts Muslims and goads us to challenge him.

“But we will not be provoked. Neither shall we be intimidated by executive maladministration. As apostles of dialogue and advocates of peaceful coexistence, as tax-payers, voters and citizens of this country, we hereby ask President Jonathan to explain the Jewish symbol on Nigeria’s money.

We also demand to know why the presidency could not employ security experts from neutral countries like Britain or France instead of Israel, which is a sworn enemy of Muslims. Mr President may also deem it fit to tell us if there is no correlation between the Israeli security experts in Aso Rock, the Israeli caught with Nigeria’s N9.3 million arms money in South Africa and the Jewish symbol on the new N100 note.

Mr President sir, are you not gradually selling Nigeria to Israel? Are you sure this will not attract the wrath of Israel’s enemies to our dear country? Can this also be partly responsible for the viciousness of the Boko Haram phenomenon?
MURIC appeals to Muslims nationwide to await President Jonathan’s response to the above questions and to remain calm and law abiding. Islam teaches tolerance (Qur’an 3:134) and obedience to constituted authority (Qur’an 4:59)." Source

Revealed : The Nigerians Aboard Pastor Oritsejafor's Jet That Smuggled $9.3 Million Arms Money To South Africa

A private jet that conveyed $9.3 million cash from Nigeria to South Africa for an arms deal between the two countries, had three Nigerians aboard, and alos passengers from Israel and Austria, new documents obtained by PREMIUM TIMES in Johannesburg have shown.

PREMIUM TIMES obtained the manifest of the jet that transported the huge sum, and has confirmed the identities of the passengers and crew who delivered the controversial package.

South Africa seized the money early September, accusing the Nigerian government of violating its laws regulating the transfer of cash. Another payment by the Nigerian government for arms to combat the extremist Boko Haram sect, was also confiscated. The second transfer, totalling $5.7 million, was wired through the banks.

The South African ambassador to Nigeria was later quoted as saying the money had been returned to Nigeria, a claim that has yet to be verified.

Details of the first transaction, revealed by a South African newspaper, City Press, said an Israeli and two Nigerians were aboard the airplane that transported the sum to Lanseria airport in South Africa.

The first tranche of the money was conveyed to South Africa on September 5 in two plastic bag suitcases and two hand luggage aboard an airplane belonging to Ayo Oritsejafor, the chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN.

While the Nigerian government confirmed the transactions, it denied violating any foreign law. The government also refused to provide the names of those aboard the airplane.

In its report, widely quoted in the Nigerian media, City Press said the Israeli passenger, Eyal Mesika, had the key to the combination lock of the suitcases. The paper also said two Nigerian passengers were aboard the plane. It quoted South African law enforcement officials.

The report however did not reveal the identities of the Nigerians, and South African officials also declined to provide those details to PREMIUM TIMES when contacted from Nigeria by telephone.

In an investigation that involved visiting South Africa, PREMIUM TIMES has obtained documents showing details of the transaction, including the flight manifest of the airplane.

The listing shows that beside Mr. Mesika, the only Nigerians on board the aircraft were crew members. The other two passengers who conveyed the cash were Austrians, the manifest shows.
The two Austrians are named, R. Wolfgang and M. Michael.

The flight crew members of the Project Eagle Air jet with flight number: N808HE were Ojongbede R.T (captain), Fejoku U, (flight officer) and George E.E (flight attendant).

The listing contradicts reports that the other passengers were Nigerians, a claim that set off an intense controversy after the All Progressives Congress, APC, accused a former militant leader, Dokubo Asari, of being one of those aboard the plane.

The APC relied on unverified reports by some news websites [not PREMIUM TIMES] in making the false claim. Mr. Asari denied the allegation and threatened legal action against Lai Mohammed, the spokesperson of the APC.

In an interview with PREMIUM TIMES at the time, Mr. Asari threatened to physically assault Mr. Mohammed if he failed to get justice in the courts.
“After all the South Africa People have given the names of people on the plane and if by next week we go to court and the court is being manipulated not to give me justice, I will resort to self-help,” he said.

I have the capacity to resort to self-help. I will not give anybody any apology because if a man has mouth to malign me then I can use what I have to fight for myself.” Source

However, he has bitten more than he could chew as he is currently at the State Criminal Investigation Department of the Oyo State Police Command, where the anti-social behaviour unit is investigating a case of defilement of a 13-year-old girl allegedly committed by the old man, and which has resulted in pregnancy.

Crime Reports learnt that Pa Alabi was doing carpentry work for a lady under whom the victim was an apprentice. The young girl seized the opportunity to tell Pa Alabi to build a safe for her. After giving her the safe, Pa Alabi wooed the girl and she agreed to his proposal. After the first sexual intercourse they had, it was learnt that the suspect gave the girl N200. When she also demanded for a handset, he gave her N1,500 to buy i-tel phone.

Four days after, they made love again. Both times were in September this year. But the grandmother of the girl was said to have noticed recently that she was showing signs of pregnancy. Though she denied, she secretly went to her lover to inform him. To her surprise, Pa Alabi demanded to know how she could be pregnant since he only had sex with her twice.

The girl decided to keep to herself and would not talk to Pa Alabi whenever he went to her mistress’s shop. This was said to have prompted the man to inform the mistress that her apprentice was pregnant for him, warning against the abortion of his unborn child. Shocked, the mistress informed the girl’s grandmother who, in turn, told the girl’s mother. Eventually, word got to the girl’s elder sister who went to a police station on Saturday, November 15 to lodge a complaint and Pa Alabi was promptly arrested.

A police source informed Crime Reports that the suspect’s neighbours said it was in the old man’s character to go after under-aged girls. The ultrasound scan carried out revealed the expected delivery date of the girl as July 7, 2015 meaning she is two months pregnant. Strangely, the girl was reported to have never menstruated before the pregnancy.

In an interview with Crime Reports, Pa Alabi admitted having sex with the girl and the paternity of the baby. He also agreed to marry her and take care of her and the baby when born. According to the man who lives at his family house at Oje area, “I am a carpenter and I still work till the present time. I even take roofing jobs. I am very strong.
“I have two daughters and a son. My first wife gave birth to the female children but had to be taken away by her people when she developed mental illness. My second wife is the mother of the boy who is an SSS3 student but she has left for another man. Currently, I have no wife.”

So how does he satisfy his sexual needs when it looks as if he is very active? Crime Reports asked. Pa Alabi replied: “I don’t go looking for any woman. I usually have sex with any of the married women who like me and come to me for sex. This is not always though.”

Speaking on how he came in contact with his victim, the elderly man said: “I used to do carpentry work for her boss who sells tailoring materials. That was where I knew her. One day, she asked me to help her build a safe in which she could be keeping her money. When I finished it, I asked her to come to my shop for the safe late one evening and I gave it to her.

“She used to pass by my shop whenever she was going home and used to stop by to greet me. On a particular day, I expressed my interest in her and she promised to think about it. She later consented and on one of the days she stopped to say hello to me, we made love when I had an urge. And it was mutual. About five days after the first time, we made love again and she stopped coming.

“One day, she came to me and told me that her grandmother said she was pregnant. She stopped coming again and I didn’t see her again until policemen came to arrest me.”

When asked whether he knew that his action was in contravention of the law, Pa Muse replied that he didn’t know, describing the outcome of his relationship with the young girl as “an act of God”. He said: “Mistake has no master. I pray that God should forgive me.”

The suspect said he doesn’t use any sex performance enhancement drug before making love to a female. “I don’t take any herbal drink for enhancement of sexual performance. They are alcoholic and I don’t take alcohol as a good Muslim. I observe my five-times-daily prayers faithfully.”

Pa Alabi said he was ready to take responsibility over the pregnant girl and the baby she is expecting. “I can take care of her adequately. I have a nephew who is a medical doctor and he has promised to help too,” he stated.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Olabisi Okuwobi-Ilobanafor however said that the suspect would be charged to court.

Caught : Popular General Overseer Paid Kidnappers N2m & They Murdered Okigwe LG Chairman(Photo)

According to reports, the General Overseer of the Kingdom of God Conscious Movement International, 65-year-old Rev Lord Ojee also known as Nduwusi Kanu is now cooling off in police cell after being fingered as the mastermind of the kidnap and murder of the former Chairman of Okigwe Local Government Area of Imo State, Hon. Godwin Igbo who was 70-year-old at the time of his demise.

The cleric was said to have hired a gang of kidnappers for a fee of N2m, out of which he made an initial deposit of N50,000 for the abduction of Igbo over an alleged land dispute and chieftaincy title of Eze Agu Nechenba 1 of Ikpoeze 1 of Arondizuogu community in Imo State.

The operation, which went awry, led to the death of the former council boss who was thereafter buried in a shallow grave in a thick forest at Lokpanta, Abia State by his abductors.

Saturday Sun reports that police investigations into the matter, however, led to the arrest of two of the kidnappers, one of them, a nephew to Rev Lord Ojee, 22-year-old Adindu Chukwu a.k.a. Alhaji and a 27-year-old Udoh Amaechi Oko who both collected N500,000 as ransom from the family of the deceased even after he was murdered.

The Enugu State Commissioner of Police, Mr Mohammed Adamu said the former council chief was on a transit to Enugu State on April 10, 2014 when he was kidnapped, murdered and buried in a shallow grave in a thick forest at Lokpanta, Abia State.

CP Adamu said he received a petition by the family of the deceased in May over the kidnap. The police boss subsequently transferred the case to the Anti-Kidnappers Squad to investigate.

It was learnt that in the course of investigations by the Alex Akinlalu-led team, detectives had an encounter with two suspected kidnappers, one of them identified as ‘Black’, a cult member of Vicking Confraternity who received gunshot injuries and later died. But before he died, the police were able to recover two phones of the late Godwin Igbo from him.

‘Black’ was also said to have confessed before he died that he was part of the gang that killed the late Igbo and buried him in an Abia forest. On October 15, the Anti-Kidnappers Squad arrested Udoh Ameachi Oko at Okigwe in Imo State and this also led to the arrest of Adindu Chukwu a.k.a. Alhaji at Garikki in Okigwe, Imo State. Chukwu was said to have confessed that it was Lord Ojee, who sent them to kidnap the late Godwin Igbo with a promise to give them N2m, out of which he gave them N50,000 “for drinks and welfare.”

This in turn led to the arrest of the General Overseer of God Conscious Movement International, Rev Lord Ojee at Uratta road junction, Aba/Port Harcourt road, Aba. All the suspects, the police boss confirmed, are now at the Anti-Kidnapers Squad’s custody where they have allegedly confessed to the crime.

In his confession, one of the suspects, Chukwu a.k.a. Alhaji said:
“Rev Lord Ojee is my uncle. He is the younger brother to my mother. Rev Lord Ojee comes to the village, Umulolo Okigwe every month and he had a misunderstanding with the late Godwin Igbo over 10 years ago over land dispute and the chieftaincy title of “Eze Agu Nechenba 1 of Ikpo Eze 1 of Arondizuogu community. My uncle, Rev Lord Ojee approached me and wanted me to organise some boys to kidnap the late Godwin Igbo to show him that he has power.

I had to meet ‘Black’, one of the leaders of kidnappers who is now late and he organised five members for the job and that include myself. My uncle promised to settle us with N2 million if the job was accomplished and he gave me N50,000 for drinks and welfare which we used to enjoy ourselves before we carried out the operation” , he said.
Chukwu further confessed:
“We went to the late Godwin Igbo to kidnap him in his village at Ekpa Eze in Aro Ndinuzo –Ogu in Okigwe Local Government Area of Imo State around 8.00pm on April 10, 2014. We took him away and we kept the victim inside a Toyota car and put him in the boot of the car. He fainted and in the process he died.

We took the corpse of the late Igbo into a thick forest and buried him in a shallow grave on April 10, 2014. We collected the deceased’s two phones and called his family members and demanded N2 million ransom. The family members didn’t know that Igbo was dead. They paid N500,000 to us and two days later, I went to meet my uncle, Rev Lord Ojee and explained to him that Godwin Igbo was kidnapped and was dead. The intention of my uncle was not to kill Igbo but to kidnap him and keep him away but unfortunately he died.

I came to meet my uncle, to collect the N2 million that he promised us. My uncle insisted that since we have collected N500, 000 from the deceased’s family that that should be okay for us. My uncle gave me N5,000 for transport.”

Speaking further, Chukwu said:
“My uncle, Ojee quickly called the elders in the village to Genesis Hotel, Okigwe to hear from the elders whether they will mention his name or suspected whether he is the one who killed Godwin Igbo. I have serious quarrel with my uncle for refusing to pay the N2 million he promised us. I was given N60,000 as a share of the money we collected from the deceased’s family.”
Another suspect, Udoh Amaechi Oko, who hails from Afikpo Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, explained:
“It was Chukwu who contacted our gang leader, ‘Black’ who is now late, that we should kidnap Godwin Igbo over a land and chieftaincy dispute with his uncle, Rev Lord Ojee. We kidnapped the deceased and kept him in the boot of the car. Later, he died. We called the deceased’s family and demanded N2 million and they paid N500,000 and I was given a share of N80,000”, he said.

In his reaction, Rev Lord Ojee told Saturday Sun:
“I have been in ministry for almost 50 years. It is true I had a misunderstanding with the deceased, Godwin Igbo for over 10 years. I know the suspect, Adindu Chukwu, he is my elder sister’s son. I heard that Igbo died when they kidnapped him”, he said.
CP Adamu, however, stated that the suspects would soon be charged to court, saying the police had already gone to the scene of the crime to exhume the corpse of Godwin Igbo. Source

Speaker Aminu Tambuwal Arrested For Questioning On The Orders Of The Inspector General Of Police

According to the Daily Trust The Inspector General of Police, Abba Sulaiman ordered the arrest of Speaker of the House of Representatives Hon Aminu Waziri Tambuwal.

Daily Trust reports that a similar order has been handed down to the Department of State Security (DSS).

This is coming barely 24 after the members of the House of Representatives were clashed with some security personnel at the National Assembly complex on Thursday.

Sources at the Police headquarters revealed that the Police chief gave the order for Tambuwal arrest after a meeting with Vice President Namadi Sambo and the National Security Adviser Sambo Dasuki.

“I can confirm to you that the order for his arrest has been given today (Friday). The signal from the IG’s office specifically directed the FCT and Sokoto State commissioners of Police to serve Tambuwal with notice of invitation to the force headquarters and if he resists, he should be arrested immediately,” the source revealed.

“The involvement of the Sokoto CP was because the Speaker was sighted in Sokoto on Friday where he picked the All Progressive Congress (APC) governorship form for the coming elections. It was assumed that he was out of Abuja as such other police divisions were involved in the matter.”

Sources at the meeting in the Villa indicate that both the Vice President and the NSA chastised the Police boss for the failure of his men to prevent Speaker from entering the National Assembly premises.

“The NSA was particularly angry and told the IG in clear terms that he doesn’t know his job. He said how did the Speaker and the members break a cordon organised by the FCT Police commissioner. The NSA then made it clear that the Police authorities must rectify the anomalies or they will face the consequences. The IG then said Tambuwal will be arrested for questioning.”
